Revisiting Colonial Legacy in Northeast India

Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Chairman of Manipur Tourism Co-operation and Member of Parliament, addressed the gathering at the valedictory function of the two-day national symposium on Revisiting Colonial Legacy in North East India. The symposium was jointly organized by the Intellectual Forum of North East, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, Department of Social Work at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (Regional Campus, Manipur), and the Centre for Manipur Studies at Manipur University. The event took place at G.P Women’s College, DM University, Imphal on February 3rd.
Professor Nani Gopal Mahanta, from the Department of Political Science at Gauhati University, attended the function as the guest of honor. In his address, he emphasized the importance of legislators understanding the impact of colonialism and the issue of dying languages in the country.
The valedictory function was also attended by Professor N. Lokendra Singh, Dean of the School of Social Science at Manipur University, and Dr Ng Ngalengnam, Director of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (Regional Campus, Manipur), as special invitees.
The event featured the presentation of papers by subject specialists and cultural programs, which were the main highlights of the valedictory function.
