Reviewing schemes for malnourished children at Dimapur

A district-level workshop was held in Dimapur on January 21, 2020, organized by the National Commission for Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with the Intellectual Forum of Northeast (IFNE).

The workshop aimed to address the issue of malnourished and stunted children in high-prevalence districts in Northeast India.
The event began with opening remarks from the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, followed by a speech from the Police Commissioner, emphasizing the impact of food choices on children’s health.
The State Chairman of NCPCR defined malnutrition and highlighted the importance of providing adequate food for children’s physical and overall development.
A representative from the District Hospital discussed the challenges of dealing with malnutrition in Dimapur and Nagaland during the technical session.
The coordinator of the Mid-Day Meal program talked about the government’s initiative to provide nutrition support to primary education through the program.
The final lecture, delivered by a dietician, stressed the need for nutrition education for mothers and the importance of defining specific foods based on children’s nutritional needs.
Overall, the workshop aimed to review existing schemes and services and promote education, awareness, and coordinated efforts to address malnutrition and stunting among children in the region.
